FBI Thwarts Multi-Stage Drone and Sniper Plot Targeting White House UFC Event

A multi-state federal operation has dismantled an alleged domestic terror network that planned a devastating, multi-stage attack on the UFC Freedom 250 event held at the White House over the weekend.[1][2]

FBI Director Kash Patel announced Tuesday that five individuals are currently in federal custody following rapid raids across Ohio, Missouri, and California. The arrests neutralized what authorities describe as a highly coordinated conspiracy to inflict mass casualties on the South Lawn.[5][7]

The FBI first became aware of the threat on June 10—just four days before the Sunday night fights—after a concerned relative of one of the suspects contacted law enforcement about alarming statements regarding an attack in Washington, D.C.[1][5]

That single tip triggered a massive, multi-agency sprint. Investigators quickly identified an Ohio man and uncovered an encrypted Signal chat group containing 23 individuals discussing pre-operational logistics and weapons procurement.[1][2]

"Thanks to the rapid action of the FBI, our partners, and the Department of Justice in a multi-state operation, multiple individuals are now in custody and allegedly planned attacks were stopped cold," Patel wrote in a statement on X, praising the operation as "the best of investigative work."[3][4]

Secret Service Director Sean Curran echoed the sentiment, confirming his agency worked "around the clock" alongside the FBI to identify the network and secure the perimeter before the first bout began.[5]

Despite the severe threat, the UFC event proceeded without interruption on Sunday night. President Trump, who is currently attending the G7 summit in Évian-les-Bains, France, told reporters on Tuesday that he had not yet been fully briefed on the thwarted plot.[5][7]
