When a published story contains an error, we correct it promptly, and significant corrections are noted transparently on the story itself. To report an error, use the Contact page with the story URL and the specifics — every report is reviewed.

What happens after you report an error
What counts as a correction?
A factual error — a wrong number, date, name, attribution, or claim that a cited source does not support. Corrections are distinct from updates (new developments added to a story) and from clarifications (wording made more precise without a factual error).
How fast are corrections applied?
Reports are reviewed as they arrive. Clear factual errors are corrected as soon as they are verified against the cited sources. Where a correction materially changes what a story says, the change is noted on the story rather than made silently.
What if a cited source itself was wrong?
Part of Factlen's method is showing which outlets reported what. If a source outlet corrects its own reporting, the affected story is re-checked and the perspective breakdown updated to reflect the corrected record.
How do I report an error?
Use the Contact page and include: the story URL, the specific claim you believe is wrong, and — if you have it — a source supporting the correction. Reports that include a checkable source are resolved fastest.
