FBI Thwarts Explosive Drone and Sniper Plot Targeting White House UFC Event

The FBI and partner law enforcement agencies have thwarted a complex, multi-stage terror plot aimed at the UFC Freedom 250 event held on the White House South Lawn over the weekend. FBI Director Kash Patel announced Tuesday that multiple suspects are in custody following a nationwide operation that disrupted the planned attack "cold" before the event took place.[1][2][3]

The alleged scheme was designed to inflict mass casualties during the high-profile mixed martial arts exhibition, which was attended by President Donald Trump and approximately 4,300 guests. According to federal officials, the attackers intended to deploy drones packed with explosives to strike buildings adjacent to the event, intentionally sparking mass panic among the crowd.[1][4][5]

The drone strikes were reportedly intended to serve as a chaotic catalyst, funneling fleeing spectators directly into the path of a pre-positioned sniper team. Following the sniper ambush, a second wave of attackers was allegedly scheduled to storm the White House gates in an attempt to breach the executive mansion's perimeter.[1][5]

The ideological motivations behind the plot appear to be a mix of anti-capitalist and anti-Zionist sentiment. One suspect reportedly told investigators that the attack was specifically designed to target "capitalist elites," "billionaires," and politicians who had accepted campaign donations from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC).[1][5][8]

The FBI first became aware of the potential threat on June 10, just four days before the UFC event was scheduled to begin. The intelligence breakthrough reportedly stemmed from the discovery of encrypted communications on the messaging app Signal. Acting on the intercepted communications, federal agents launched a multi-state operation spanning at least 12 FBI field offices.
