A secondary public health crisis is now emerging in the downstream displacement camps. Municipal laboratories in Nuwakot detected E. coli in five out of 15 chlorinated drinking-water sources in the town of Bidur. The Department of Food Technology and Quality Control has issued urgent warnings against consuming fish or livestock recovered from the floodwaters due to severe contamination risks.[7]
