The bracket is finally clear, and the stakes have never been higher. After a grueling weekend of semifinal action at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan, the 2026 V-League Collegiate Challenge championship matchups are officially locked.[1]
On the men’s side, the National University Bulldogs will renew their fierce rivalry with the Far Eastern University Tamaraws. The women’s division promises equal fireworks, as defending champion Adamson University prepares to clash with the surging University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses.[1]
The road to the finals was anything but a straight line for National University. The Bulldogs found themselves pushed to the absolute brink after the Colegio de San Juan de Letran Knights pulled off a stunning five-set upset on Saturday.[1]
That marathon loss forced a winner-take-all Game 3 on Sunday, testing NU's championship resolve. Head coach Dante Alinsunurin demanded an immediate response from his squad, and the Bulldogs delivered a masterclass in execution to sweep the decider 25-14, 25-23, 25-20.[1]
“Sa'kin, na-challenge namin sila after nung game namin kahapon,” Alinsunurin told reporters following the decisive victory. “Kailangan talaga kung ano 'yung mga kailangan naming gawin na adjustments, magawa namin today para makuha ang panalo.”[1]
Rookie sensation RK Medino shouldered the offensive load for NU, hammering home 17 points on a day when the team desperately needed a spark. The Bulldogs dominated the net, out-blocking Letran 12-7 and capitalizing on 19 unforced errors by the Knights.[1]
Tamaraws Chase a Three-Peat
Waiting for NU in the men's championship series is a familiar foe with historic ambitions. The FEU Tamaraws are hunting for their third consecutive V-League crown, and they look every bit the part of a dynasty in the making.[3]
FEU punched their finals ticket on Saturday by completing a clinical sweep of the College of Saint Benilde Blazers. The Tamaraws secured the clincher 25-23, 25-22, 25-18, relying on a suffocating defensive scheme that frustrated the Blazers' attackers all afternoon.[3]
Middle blocker Duola Ndongala was an absolute wall, racking up eight blocks to anchor the FEU defense. Meanwhile, Amet Bituin provided the two-way balance, contributing 13 points, seven excellent receptions, and four digs in a stellar all-around performance.[3]
“Bago kami pumunta ng Game 2, 'yung unang inaral talaga namin is 'yung eliminations,” FEU coach Jelord Talisayan explained regarding their preparation. “Kailangan tayong mag-react sa mga mali nating ginawa para hindi na maulit.”[3]
Lady Falcons Welcome Back Their Captain
In the women’s bracket, Adamson University looks poised to defend its title after dismantling the University of the East Lady Warriors. The Lady Falcons completed their semifinal sweep with a 25-21, 25-17, 25-20 victory on Saturday, showcasing their trademark floor defense.[2]
The biggest storyline for Adamson was the return of captain and Alas Pilipinas standout Shaina Nitura to the starting lineup. Nitura did not miss a beat, nearly recording a triple-double with 13 attacks, nine excellent receptions, and 15 crucial digs.[2]
“Happy ako kasi collectively binubuhat talaga nila 'yung team,” Nitura said of her squad's resilience during her absence. “Bawat posisyon may ginagawa talaga and gusto talaga nilang manalo, kaya nagbubunga na rin 'yung investment namin.”[2]
Frances Mordi continued her dominant run for the Lady Falcons, leading the offense with 14 points. Adamson’s defensive pressure was relentless, forcing crucial errors from UE down the stretch to seal the sweep and keep their back-to-back title hopes alive.[2]
Tigresses Flex Their Net Defense
Standing in Adamson’s way is a University of Santo Tomas squad that is peaking at the perfect time. The Golden Tigresses secured their finals berth by sweeping Arellano University 25-16, 25-21, 25-15, relying heavily on their imposing frontline.
Reg Jurado anchored the UST attack with 19 points, including 16 kills and two service aces. But it was the Tigresses' blocking that truly broke Arellano's spirit, with Marga Altea tallying four of the team's crucial rejections at the net.
“Siyempre, happy kami, especially yung mga players kasi nga medyo shaky kami buong eliminations,” UST head coach Shaq Delos Santos admitted. “Pero good thing na nakapag-perform kami nang maayos at nakita ang improvement ng team.”
Both best-of-three championship series are set to begin on Wednesday at the FilOil EcoOil Centre. With pride, momentum, and collegiate supremacy on the line, these four programs are ready to leave everything on the taraflex to claim the ultimate prize.[1]
