WWE Money in the Bank 2026 Preview: Roman Reigns Faces LA Knight in High-Stakes New Orleans Showdown

Roman Reigns defends the World Heavyweight Championship against LA Knight as a stacked field of rising stars and veterans prepare for the career-altering ladder matches.

WWE Money in the Bank 2026 heads to the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans this Saturday, October 10, anchored by a massive World Heavyweight Championship clash. Roman Reigns puts his title on the line against LA Knight, a crowd-favorite challenger who has spent three years waiting for this exact breakthrough opportunity.[1][2]

The stakes for Reigns extend far beyond the ring. The champion returns to action while his family endures relentless attacks from the dangerous 946 faction, including the recent kidnapping of Solo Sikoa and a vehicular assault on Jacob Fatu.[3][5]

Despite those chaotic distractions, analysts heavily favor Reigns to retain in his fifth title defense. WWE has already advertised the champion for the upcoming Crown Jewel event, suggesting his dominant run will survive the weekend in Louisiana.[1]

The core of the 16th annual premium live event remains the twin six-way ladder matches, where the winners secure a guaranteed championship contract. The men's field blends established veterans with rising powerhouses, featuring CM Punk, Kevin Owens, Penta, Bron Breakker, Trick Williams, and Je'Von Evans.[1][2]

Breakker enters the match as a strong favorite to carve his path to world championship glory. "With a life-changing contract hanging above the ring, Saturday night offers a golden opportunity to climb the ladder," noted Nicholas Paul of Last Word on Sports.[1]

On the women's side, the field is packed with talent on the verge of a major breakthrough. Roxanne Perez, Tiffany Stratton, Sol Ruca, Lola Vice, Jacy Jayne, and Lash Legend will battle for the briefcase suspended above the ring.[1][2]

Outside of Stratton, who competed in the 2024 iteration, every woman in the match is making her Money in the Bank debut. Perez enters as the heavily favored fan choice, backed by her recent momentum alongside The Judgment Day faction.[1]

Momentum shifted heavily during the October 5 go-home edition of Monday Night Raw at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis. Je'Von Evans and Penta teamed up to face World Tag Team Champions Bron Breakker and Austin Theory, giving the ladder match competitors a final chance to scout each other.[4][6]

The St. Louis crowd of over 8,200 fans also witnessed a crucial women's tag team preview. Sol Ruca and Lola Vice joined forces against Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez, escalating the bad blood before they meet in the ladder match.[4][6]

The Judgment Day has taken a specific disliking to Vice since she debuted on Raw and earned her spot. That animosity spilled over during the tag bout, proving that alliances will be completely fractured once the bell rings in New Orleans.[1][6]

The Women's World Championship picture has grown increasingly volatile since September 12. Stephanie Vaquer reclaimed the gold from Liv Morgan during a live event in Santiago, Chile, with Becky Lynch serving as the special guest referee.[3][5]

That controversial finish set the stage for Saturday's high-stakes Triple Threat match. Morgan and Lynch battled in a fierce No. 1 Contender's match on Monday Night Raw, leading WWE to put both women in the ring against Vaquer.[3][6]

Vaquer is widely expected to retain her championship in New Orleans. Given how recently she won the title, a change feels unlikely unless the women's ladder match winner executes an opportunistic cash-in later in the night.[1]

Rounding out the card is a heavyweight singles bout that promises absolute destruction. Oba Femi goes head-to-head with Bronson Reed, marking Reed's first match back since suffering a severe right distal biceps tear in February 2026.[1]

Stephanie Vaquer defends the Women's World Championship in a Triple Threat match.

Femi has been on a warpath, returning to Raw on September 28 to obliterate The Vision faction after weeks of targeted beatdowns. The match serves as a critical test for Femi as WWE builds him toward mega-stardom and a potential WrestleMania 43 main event.[1][5]

The New Orleans crowd expects a physical spectacle from top to bottom. With the ladders raised and multiple championships hanging in the balance, Saturday night offers a golden opportunity for WWE's rising roster to permanently alter the company's landscape.[1][7]
