Kaden Honeycutt capped off a life-changing week with a career-defining performance on Saturday afternoon, driving his No. 11 TRICON Garage Toyota to a dominant victory in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Black's Tire 250 at Richmond Raceway. The 23-year-old Texan, who announced just days earlier that he and his wife Jessica are expecting their first child, led a staggering 225 of the 250 scheduled laps on the 0.75-mile Virginia short track.[1][4]

The weather-delayed race, pushed to Saturday afternoon due to Friday evening showers, quickly turned into a showcase of Honeycutt's raw speed. Starting near the front, he wasted no time asserting his dominance, bypassing polesitter Shane van Gisbergen on lap three. From that point on, Honeycutt settled into an untouchable rhythm, holding the top spot for a remarkable 195-consecutive-lap stretch and sweeping both the first and second stages for the first time in his career.[2][5]

"We've had a rough last couple weeks, we just wondered what the heck was going on, we're not a seventh-to-10th place team," Honeycutt said in his post-race television interview. "What a dominating day, I've never been able to do like that before." The victory marked his second win of the 2026 season and the second of his young career, easily surpassing his previous career-high of 59 laps led at Darlington Raceway earlier this year.[2][4]

Honeycutt's historic dominance by the numbers.

While Honeycutt controlled the tempo for the vast majority of the afternoon, the final stage provided a brief strategic challenge. During a cycle of green-flag pit stops, veteran Grant Enfinger opted to stay out on the track, gambling on fuel mileage and hoping for a caution. That caution arrived with 35 laps remaining when Stewart Friesen made heavy contact with the outside wall, erasing Enfinger's advantage and bunching the field up for a final restart.[2][5]

While Honeycutt controlled the tempo for the vast majority of the afternoon, the final stage provided a brief strategic challenge.

On the ensuing green flag, Honeycutt lined up alongside Enfinger and quickly dispatched him via the outside lane, reclaiming the lead with 29 laps to go. He never looked back, crossing the finish line 1.313 seconds ahead of his TRICON Garage teammate and reigning series champion, Corey Heim, to secure a 1-2 finish for the organization. Christian Eckes finished third, van Gisbergen held on for fourth, and Enfinger rounded out the top five.[1][5]

Further back in the pack, the race featured several notable storylines. Sixteen-year-old Tristan McKee turned heads in his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut, piloting the No. 77 Spire Motorsports entry to a highly impressive eighth-place finish. Meanwhile, former Richmond winner Ty Majeski overcame early tire trouble that left him two laps down, battling back to finish 19th and officially lock himself into the playoff Chase.[1][4]

The regular-season championship gap narrows to 61 points ahead of the finale.

The championship picture also tightened significantly as the series heads toward its regular-season finale. Points leader Layne Riggs suffered through a series of missteps on pit road during the final stage, relegating him to a 15th-place finish. Honeycutt's maximum-points day trimmed Riggs' advantage to just 61 points, keeping the battle for the regular-season crown—and its crucial playoff bonus points—alive heading into next weekend's race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.[2][3]

For Honeycutt and veteran crew chief Scott Zippadelli—who claimed his 38th career series victory—the Richmond triumph serves as a massive momentum boost. With the playoffs looming and a baby on the way, Honeycutt has firmly established himself as a top-tier title contender capable of dismantling the field on any given weekend.[1][4]
