Google began rolling out Android 17 and its smartwatch counterpart, Wear OS 7, to eligible Pixel devices today. Alongside the smartphone update, Google launched Wear OS 7 for its Pixel Watch lineup. Google's flagship "Gemini Intelligence" suite—which promises agentic AI capabilities and multi-step app automation—is not included in the initial Android 17 or Wear OS 7 rollout. When the AI features do arrive, they are expected to fundamentally change how users interact with their devices. For now, the Android 17 and Wear OS 7 updates are exclusive to Google's own Pixel hardware, starting with the Pixel 6 and newer models.
