Char-Broil Recalls 10,600 Bistro Pro Electric Grills Over Shock Hazard

The Consumer Product Safety Commission and Char-Broil have initiated a recall of roughly 10,605 Bistro Pro electric grills across the United States, deciding to issue free repair kits rather than full replacements. Owners are instructed to stop using the grills immediately and can register online today to receive the necessary hardware, with a $25 incentive available once the fix is completed.[1][2]

The defect centers on the grounding wire connected to the grill's heating element. The CPSC warns that "the grounding wire for the grill's heating element can disconnect and lose fault protection, posing an electric shock hazard." Without that grounding path, an electrical short could pass current through the metal chassis directly to the user.[1][4]

No injuries or shocks have been reported in the field. The recall is fenced to a specific three-month production window, suggesting the fault was isolated to a specific manufacturing run rather than a widespread design flaw. An additional 342 affected units were sold in Canada.[1][2][4]

The recall covers specific model numbers within the Bistro Pro range, including both full-size and tabletop configurations. Affected units were sold in black, red, blackout, and emerald finishes between October 2025 and June 2026 for between $150 and $250. Identifying a recalled grill requires checking the product label, located on the bottom shelf of full-size models or the side bar of tabletop versions. Only grills bearing the four-digit date codes 2510, 2511, or 2512—corresponding to October, November, and December 2025—are included in the recall.[1][3]

The remedy is a free, consumer-applied repair. Owners must register their grill at Char-Broil's dedicated recall website to receive the kit, which includes a screwdriver, a wrench, replacement screws, and a new label to affix once the repair is finished.[1][2]

To encourage compliance with the self-repair, Char-Broil is offering a financial incentive. Consumers who submit photo documentation showing the completed fix will receive a $25 digital gift card valid at participating retailers.[1][3]

This marks the second electrical recall for Char-Broil in recent years, following a February 2024 recall of 211,700 digital electric smokers that lacked adequate ground-fault protection. While that earlier recall followed 79 reports of minor shocks, the Bistro Pro recall is entirely preemptive, with zero incidents reported to date.
