Both premium TV technologies have largely solved their early flaws, making the choice entirely dependent on your room's lighting and your viewing habits.

However, Mini-LED dominates in raw luminance and HDR impact. High-end Mini-LED sets now regularly push peak brightness between 2,000 and 4,000 nits, and crucially, they can sustain full-screen brightness above 1,000 nits. OLEDs, even with the latest dual-stack Tandem technology, typically peak around 1,000 to 1,500 nits for small highlights. Ultimately, the spec sheet matters less than the ambient light in your viewing environment. Once ambient light in a room exceeds roughly 20 to 30 lux, the human eye's perception of the black floor shifts upward, largely erasing OLED's absolute black advantage. In those bright, sunlit environments, Mini-LED's sheer luminance prevents the image from looking flat or washed out, making it the superior everyday workhorse.[2][4]

But in a controlled, dimly lit environment, nothing matches the pixel-perfect precision of OLED. Without the need for a backlight algorithm to guess which zones to dim, OLED delivers a transparent, three-dimensional picture quality and near-instant 0.03ms response times.
