Cameroon and Tunisia Set Up African Championship Final With LA 2028 Olympic Berth on the Line

After one hour and 40 minutes of play at the Sports Palace of El Menzah in Tunis, the host nation secured its chance at a 12th continental crown. Tunisia defeated Morocco 3-1 on Wednesday evening, while Cameroon edged Algeria 3-1 in the other semifinal, setting up a gold-medal clash at the 2026 Men's African Nations Volleyball Championship.[2][5]

Both finalists have already locked in two of Africa's three tickets to the 2027 FIVB Men's Volleyball World Cup in Poland. However, Friday's final carries an even heavier prize: the continental champion will earn a direct qualification berth for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.[1][4]

Tunisia, the 11-time champions, dominated Morocco across four sets (25-17, 20-25, 25-16, 25-12). The hosts outscored their opponents 95-70 overall, driven by a massive 53-37 advantage in attack points and a 10-5 edge in blocks. Opposite Ali Bongui led the floor with 17 points, supported by outside hitter Oussama Ben Romdhane with 15.[2]

Cameroon faced a stiffer test against Algeria, taking the match 3-1 (25-22, 25-16, 20-25, 25-23) in one hour and 55 minutes.
