Boston Cannons Sweep Homecoming Weekend as PLL Playoff Field Nears Completion

The 2026 Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) regular season is hurtling toward a dramatic conclusion, and the playoff picture is nearly complete following a high-stakes "Throwback Weekend" in Boston. Five of the six available postseason tickets have officially been punched, leaving just one spot up for grabs as the league heads into its final regular-season slate.[1][2]

Trailing the Maryland Whipsnakes 12-10 with just over a minute remaining, the Cannons' win probability had plummeted to a mere 10.11 percent. Following a crucial faceoff win by rookie specialist Andrew McMeekin, veteran attackman Marcus Holman unleashed a two-point game-winner in overtime, securing a miraculous 14-12 victory. Meanwhile, in the Western Conference, the Denver Outlaws made a massive statement by eliminating the defending champion New York Atlas from playoff contention. For Carolina to sneak into the postseason, they need a monumental collapse from California. Specifically, the Redwoods would have to lose their upcoming regular-season finale to the Denver Outlaws by 11 or more goals—a scenario that seems highly unlikely given the Redwoods' overall consistency.[1]
