For competitive players, the mechanical ceiling just got pushed higher. ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) used its Gamescom 2026 stage to aggressively expand its footprint in the high-stakes esports arena, unveiling the new "Ace Collection" of tournament-grade hardware and cementing a major peripheral partnership with German esports organization GamerLegion.[2][3]
The centerpiece of the hardware reveal is the ROG Swift OLED PG259QWS Ace, a 24.5-inch display that pushes panel technology to a blistering 720Hz refresh rate. Utilizing a Tandem WOLED panel with a TrueBlack Glossy finish, the monitor hits 1,700 nits of peak brightness while maintaining deep black levels under harsh stage lighting—a critical factor for LAN environments.[1][3]
The flagship display is already locked in as the official monitor for the 2026 PGL CS2 Major. PGL CEO Silviu Stroie noted that the historic event deserves a display to match, calling it "the first OLED Major on the fastest OLED ever made." The PG259QWS Ace will launch in early Q4 with a price tag of $1,099.[1][3]
ASUS is also rolling out three additional 24.5-inch OLED models to round out the Ace lineup. The ROG Strix OLED XG259QDPG Ace runs at 560Hz using a QD-OLED panel with BlackShield Film to boost perceived black levels, while the XG259QDNS Ace offers a more accessible 360Hz option. A fourth model, the 540Hz XG259QWPG Ace, will retail for $699.[1][3]

On the peripheral side, ROG introduced the Gladius IV Ace, an ergonomic esports mouse weighing just 56 grams. Developed through sports-science testing to reduce muscle strain during long sessions, the mouse features a center-balanced shell and includes stackable weights—3g, 5g, and 7g—that allow players to fine-tune the feel across seven different configurations.[1][2][3]
The Gladius IV Ace tracks via the AimPoint Pro 65K optical sensor, capable of 65,000 dpi and 800 ips. It utilizes ROG's SpeedNova 8K Gen II wireless technology to achieve an 8,000Hz polling rate, scanning at up to 20,000 frames per second. Every unit undergoes factory testing to ensure the left and right click actuation forces match within a tight 5-gram margin.[1][2]
For MMO and MOBA players, ASUS also revealed the ROG Spatha X 65K. Equipped with 12 programmable buttons, swappable mechanical switches, and a magnetic charging dock, the Spatha X 65K is designed for complex ability rotations and macro stacking without sacrificing wireless performance.[2]
Beyond the hardware, ASUS is backing the launch with expanded competitive partnerships. The brand announced an official peripheral sponsorship with GamerLegion, a prominent esports organization best known for its Counter-Strike 2 roster. ASUS ROG will supply the team with mice, keyboards, and mouse pads for tournament play, and the ROG logo will now appear on the sleeves of GamerLegion jerseys.[1][3]
To further bridge the gap between hardware engineering and competitive play, ROG has also signed popular content creator and former Apex Legends professional Timothy "iiTzTimmy" An. He joins the partner roster to showcase the new gear and provide direct input on future product development, signaling ROG's intent to keep its hardware closely aligned with the needs of top-tier competitors.[1][3]
The stakes
For competitive players, the jump to 720Hz OLED panels and 8,000Hz polling rates represents a tangible reduction in motion blur and input latency, pushing the mechanical ceiling of esports hardware. The GamerLegion partnership also signals a deeper integration between endemic hardware brands and top-tier competitive rosters.
