Wren Sinclair Shocks NXT in Battle Royal as BirthRight Advances in Dusty Cup
Suspended superstar Wren Sinclair disguised herself as Lady Shani to win the 20-woman battle royal on NXT, earning a championship match at Halloween Havoc. Meanwhile, BirthRight dominated the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic after a brutal backstage assault.

The road to Halloween Havoc just took a massive detour through the WWE Performance Center. On October 6, 2026, NXT delivered a chaotic two-hour broadcast defined by stolen opportunities and a brilliant disguise. The stakes were clear: a guaranteed shot at Kelani Jordan’s NXT Women's Championship and advancement in the historic 14-team Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.[2][6]
The night's main event featured a 20-woman battle royal that quickly descended into absolute bedlam. Early eliminations thinned the herd, with heavy hitters like Zaria, Nikkita Lyons, and Ivy Nile battling for position. But the real story was the mysterious presence of AAA's Lady Shani, who systematically picked her spots while the rest of the field tore each other apart.[1][6]
As the match reached its climax, the final competitors standing on the apron were Lizzy Rain and Kali Armstrong. Armstrong managed to eliminate Rain and began celebrating what she thought was a hard-fought victory. That premature celebration cost her everything, as the masked Lady Shani shoved Armstrong over the top rope to secure the win.[1][5]
The real shock came moments after the bell. The victorious luchadora stood in the center of the ring and unlaced her mask, revealing herself to be the currently suspended Wren Sinclair. The Orlando crowd erupted as Sinclair held up the mask, having successfully bypassed NXT management to hijack the main event.[1][5]
"I played the game the smart way instead of the safe way because we're done playing it the safe way," Sinclair stated in a post-match interview. Despite her 21-day suspension, ring announcer Mike Rome declared Sinclair the winner under her real name. She will now challenge Kelani Jordan for the NXT Women's Championship on October 31.[4][5]
While Sinclair used deception to secure her spot, the BirthRight faction relied on sheer brutality. The group, consisting of Lexis King, Charlie Dempsey, Uriah Connors, Arianna Grace, and Stacks, left a trail of bodies throughout the broadcast. Their night began with a calculated assault on Zilla Fatu.[2][3]
Fatu had just secured a hard-hitting singles victory over Lexis King, finishing him off with the Triple Z. However, the celebration was cut short when BirthRight swarmed the ring. The faction launched a ruthless five-on-one beatdown, culminating in a sickening spot where they trapped Fatu's right hand between the steel ring steps and crushed it with a steel chair.[2][3]
BirthRight’s violent campaign didn't end there. Later in the broadcast, Sean Legacy and Dorian Van Dux were found laid out backstage following a targeted ambush. The attack conveniently opened up a slot in the first round of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, which William Regal subsequently awarded to King and Dempsey.[2][6]
Stepping into the stolen tournament slot, Dempsey and King faced off against the Tokyo Bad Boys, SB Kento and Takuma. The Japanese duo put up a blistering fight, with Takuma hitting a springboard clothesline, a big boot, and a spectacular springboard 450 splash that nearly ended the match.[3][6]
The numbers game and BirthRight's aggressive pacing ultimately proved too much. After Kento took out King with a suicide dive on the floor, Dempsey capitalized in the ring. He caught Takuma on the top turnbuckle, delivered a massive superplex, and immediately transitioned into a gut-wrench suplex to score the pinfall victory.[3][6]
"Everyone is going to realize that they don't step up to BirthRight," Dempsey declared after the match. The stolen victory pushes the faction into the quarter-finals of the Dusty Cup. They join Hank Walker and Tank Ledger, who advanced earlier in the night by defeating Shido Ash and Viktor Zanov.[2][3]
Meanwhile, the NXT Championship picture remains highly volatile. Reigning champion Grayson Waller took to the microphone to boast about his recent title defense, only to be interrupted by two rising contenders. Myles Borne and Tony D'Angelo both marched to the ring, making their intentions clear for Halloween Havoc.[3][6]
Borne did not mince words about his trajectory in the brand. He vowed to run through the NXT pillar and take the championship he has yet to win. Waller, eager to let his challengers destroy each other, announced that Borne and D'Angelo will face off in a number one contender's match next week.[3][6]
The rest of the card featured its own share of bizarre moments. A singles bout between Shiloh Hill and Naraku ended abruptly in a no-contest. The finish came when Naraku attempted to spray his signature blue mist, only to accidentally blind the referee, forcing officials to throw out the match.[2][6]

Elsewhere, Kendal Grey reached a personal milestone outside the ring. She completed her three mandatory therapy sessions, admitting to her therapist that she had actually come around to liking the process. It was a rare moment of vulnerability on a night otherwise dominated by violence and subterfuge.[3][6]
As NXT barrels toward Halloween Havoc, the landscape of the brand has been completely fractured. Between Sinclair's masked infiltration and BirthRight's hostile takeover of the Dusty Cup, the rulebook was thrown out the window. The October 6 episode proved that in the current era of NXT, survival requires a lot more than just in-ring talent.[2][5]
