The Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic is officially back on the board. After a two-year hiatus, NXT General Manager Robert Stone confirmed on the September 15 broadcast that the prestigious tournament will return to WWE programming starting September 22. But this year’s iteration is breaking the traditional mold: the 2026 bracket expands to a massive 14-team cross-promotional field, pulling contenders not just from NXT, Raw, and SmackDown, but from EVOLVE and Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide.[1][2]

Following WWE's finalized acquisition of the Mexican promotion AAA in August 2026, this tournament serves as the first major structural integration of those rosters.
