Tyler Perry, Meagan Good, and Patti LaBelle Honored at 6th Annual Hollywood Unlocked Impact Awards

The 6th annual Hollywood Unlocked Impact Awards took place on June 5, 2026, at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, bringing together a star-studded crowd to celebrate Black excellence in film, music, and social advocacy. Hosted by Emmy and Grammy-winning comedian Tiffany Haddish, the evening honored individuals who have made lasting contributions to culture and their communities.[1]

Filmmaker and studio owner Tyler Perry received the coveted Innovator Award. Over the past two decades, Perry has reshaped the entertainment landscape by building one of the country's largest production studios and creating countless opportunities for Black creatives both in front of and behind the camera. His recognition underscored the ceremony's focus on ownership and longevity in Hollywood.[1]

Actress, director, and producer Meagan Good was presented with the Spirit Award. Reflecting on her 40-year career, Good delivered an emotional speech about her transition from a child star to a leading woman and entrepreneur. Music legend Patti LaBelle accepted the Legacy Award, the evening's highest honor. Acknowledging her 65-year career, LaBelle expressed deep gratitude for the recognition, noting the hard work required to succeed and outlast industry trends. The ceremony also featured touching moments of intergenerational inspiration. Singer Kehlani, who received the Fearlessness Award, shared a deeply personal story during her acceptance speech. She revealed that while her mother was incarcerated, the music of gospel icon Kirk Franklin—who was honored with the Inspiration Award the same evening—helped her persevere through difficult times.

Beyond film and music, the event recognized a diverse group of cultural trailblazers. Wu-Tang Clan founder RZA was honored with the Culture Award for his vital role in advancing hip-hop and cinema. Additionally, marketing executive Bozoma Saint John received the Pioneer Award, and Tennessee State Representative Justin Jones was recognized with the Community Award for his civic leadership.[2]

Founded by media personality Jason Lee, the Impact Awards extend beyond celebrity recognition to drive tangible community support. A portion of the proceeds from the evening benefited the Hollywood Cares Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to uplifting underserved youth in Black and Brown communities through civic engagement and personal development programming.[1]
