Each Flash charger carries 370 kilowatt-hours of on-site battery storage, split across two 185-kilowatt-hour units. When a car plugs in, the station releases that stored energy in a 1,500-kilowatt burst, delivering megawatt-level power without requiring a multi-million-dollar utility upgrade.
This architecture also solves the winter range anxiety that plagues drivers in colder climates. According to BYD's specifications, even in extreme cold of minus 30 degrees Celsius, the system can push a vehicle from a 10 percent to 97 percent state of charge in roughly 12 minutes. The physical hardware is designed for ease of use, utilizing a T-shaped gantry with two vertically hanging cables that prevent the heavy cords from dragging on the ground, regardless of where the vehicle's charge port is located.
