Google executives have spent much of 2026 framing Gemini as a conversational oracle capable of reasoning through complex abstract problems, but the company's September Android feature drop suggests a much narrower, more practical reality. Rather than deploying sweeping generative capabilities, the update released on September 1 focuses on tracking mundane physical objects and drawing dots on the screen to stop passengers from vomiting in cars.[1][2]
