Celtics Trade Jaylen Brown to 76ers for Paul George in Blockbuster Deal

The Boston Celtics have agreed to trade five-time All-Star and 2024 NBA Finals MVP Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers in a stunning intra-division blockbuster. In exchange, Boston receives nine-time All-Star Paul George, two first-round picks, and two second-round picks.

The draft capital heading to Boston includes a 2028 first-round pick that can convert to a favorable swap, an unprotected 2031 first-round pick, and second-round selections in 2028 and 2030. The move ends Brown's decade-long tenure in Boston, where he recently carried the offensive load while Jayson Tatum recovered from an Achilles tear, averaging a career-best 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game.[1]

Tensions between Brown and the Celtics front office reportedly escalated after his name surfaced in trade talks for Giannis Antetokounmpo earlier in the offseason. Brown now joins a formidable Philadelphia core featuring two-time scoring champion Joel Embiid, rising star Tyrese Maxey, and second-year standout VJ Edgecombe.
