To successfully break a connection, the jammer must exceed the IEEE 802.11 Energy Detection (ED) threshold [3]. There is a distinction between these crude consumer devices and the highly targeted mitigation systems used by federal agencies. Authorized entities, such as the Department of Defense or the FBI, utilize "smart jammers" that employ directional antennas and selective frequency targeting to neutralize specific threats, like unauthorized drones [5].
