Justin Barcia Cleared for Red Bud Return as Ducati Adds Legend Tony Cairoli to Lineup

Troy Lee Designs Red Bull Ducati Factory Racing has confirmed that Justin Barcia is medically cleared to race following a brief hiatus. Barcia's absence stemmed from a frustrating sequence at the Thunder Valley National in early June. During the opening moto, he sustained a mild back injury that triggered severe muscle spasms. The discomfort forced him to withdraw from the second moto of the day and subsequently sit out the High Point National entirely. By capitalizing on the series' scheduled off-weekend, Barcia secured the necessary recovery time without sacrificing additional points.[1]

"I am stoked to be back, especially for Red Bud on the 4th of July," Barcia said in a team release. He noted that the decision to rest during High Point was strictly precautionary, allowing his back spasms to subside fully. With his medical clearance secured, the veteran rider is eager to resume the ongoing development of the new Ducati platform in a live race environment.[1]

For the first time in the team's history, Troy Lee Designs Red Bull Ducati Factory Racing will field a three-rider lineup in the premier 450cc class. The Italian veteran is scheduled to compete in a three-round stint, lining up at Red Bud, Southwick, and Spring Creek. Cairoli views the upcoming races as an invaluable opportunity to evaluate the motorcycle's recent upgrades under the grueling conditions of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship. Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki recently confirmed that 250cc title contender Seth Hammaker will miss the remainder of the 2026 season. Hammaker, who was co-leading the championship standings just weeks ago, suffered a severe shoulder injury during a crash in the second moto at High Point.[2]

Hammaker's abrupt exit is a bitter blow for the Kawasaki squad, abruptly ending what had been a breakout outdoor campaign for the young American. He will now shift his focus entirely to rehabilitation, with the team targeting a full-strength return for the 2027 Supercross season.
