He warned that the 2.8 million-member all-volunteer joint force can no longer rely on uncontested logistics or safe sanctuary areas, as technological parity among global powers dismantles traditional American advantages.[1][2][3]

The 1967 Outer Space Treaty prohibits the stationing of nuclear weapons in orbit, but the expanding definition of space control has blurred the lines of conventional deterrence.[6]

U.S. intelligence assessments indicate that rival nations, particularly the People's Republic of China, are actively pursuing systems designed to contest American space dominance. In response, the Space Force—established as an independent branch in 2019—is projected to double its personnel to approximately 25,000 service members over the next five years to staff its Combat Forces Command and other operational units.[1][4]
