Basque surfing phenom Annette González Etxebarri has successfully undergone emergency knee surgery, temporarily sidelining her from the World Surf League (WSL) Challenger Series and her critical role as the primary women's Championship Tour replacement.

The European youth champion had recently returned home to Zumaia, Spain, following the grueling Australian leg of the Challenger Series when she received the diagnosis.
