Uzbekistan vs Colombia · World Cup 2026 Group K

Colombia showcased their tournament pedigree with a clinical 3-1 victory over Uzbekistan in the FIFA World Cup 2026. The South Americans asserted control early in a physical encounter, which saw early cautions for Colombia's Johan Mojica and Uzbekistan's Abdukodir Khusanov. The breakthrough came in the 40th minute when Daniel Muñoz found the back of the net, giving Colombia a deserved lead heading into the break.

Uzbekistan responded boldly at halftime, introducing Oston Urunov and Sherzod Nasrullaev to inject energy. The tactical shift reaped immediate rewards as star talent Abbosbek Fayzullaev scored a brilliant equalizer in the 60th minute, momentarily sparking hopes of an upset. However, Colombia's response was swift and devastating, proving why they are considered formidable contenders on the global stage.

Just five minutes after Uzbekistan’s equalizer, star forward Luis Díaz restored Colombia's advantage with a clinical finish in the 65th minute. To manage the closing stages, Colombia introduced veteran playmaker James Rodríguez, who helped dictate the tempo and stifle any potential Uzbek fightback. The victory was capped off in the 90th minute when Jaminton Campaz struck a third, sealing a decisive 3-1 win.

For Colombia, this performance is a statement of intent, combining lethal efficiency in front of goal with experienced game management. Uzbekistan, while disappointed with the final score, can take immense pride in their competitive spirit and Fayzullaev's moments of brilliance, showing they can compete at the highest level despite falling short defensively in the final moments.
