Germany vs Curacao · World Cup 2026 Group E

Germany opened their World Cup campaign with an emphatic statement of intent, dismantling debutants Curaçao 7-1 in a ruthless attacking display. Julian Nagelsmann's side established control early on, with midfielder Felix Nmecha breaking the deadlock just six minutes into the match. However, the moment of the match arrived in the 21st minute when Livano Comenencia scored a historic equalizer for Curaçao. In what was the island nation's first-ever appearance on football’s grandest stage, Comenencia's clinical strike stunned the German defense and sparked delirious celebrations from the Caribbean side.

Any hopes of a monumental upset were gradually extinguished as Germany's superior technical quality took hold. Nico Schlotterbeck restored Germany's lead in the 38th minute, before Kai Havertz cushioned the advantage with a vital goal right on the stroke of halftime. Emerging from the interval, Germany showed absolutely no mercy. Jamal Musiala immediately struck in the 47th minute to make it 4-1, putting the game out of Curaçao's reach.

With both sides ringing the changes in the second half, Germany’s squad depth was on full display. Eintracht Frankfurt's young left-back Nathaniel Brown registered his first senior international goal in the 68th minute to stretch the lead to five. Late substitute Deniz Undav added his name to the scoresheet with a well-taken goal in the 78th minute, and Havertz capped off his stellar evening by sealing his brace in the 88th minute. While Germany march forward as formidable tournament contenders, Curaçao depart with their heads held high, forever carrying the memory of Comenencia’s historic world-stage goal.
