Canada vs Bosnia and Herzegovina · World Cup 2026 Group B

Canada fought back to salvage a 1–1 draw against Bosnia and Herzegovina in a physically demanding FIFA World Cup 2026 clash. The co-hosts struggled to find their rhythm early on, falling behind in the 21st minute when Jovo Lukić breached the Canadian defense to put the visitors ahead. A highly contentious first half also saw tempers flare, with Alistair Johnston receiving an early booking, while Bosnia's Ermedin Demirović and goalscorer Lukić were both cautioned just before the referee blew for halftime.

Desperate to turn the tide, Canada opted for a massive tactical shake-up in the 61st minute, executing a triple substitution that introduced Liam Millar, Jonathan David, and Tajon Buchanan. The injection of fresh energy immediately shifted the momentum in favor of the North Americans. Bosnia countered by withdrawing their goalscorer Lukić, but Canada's relentless pressure finally paid off in the 78th minute when star forward Cyle Larin found the back of the net to level the scoreline.

The final minutes of the match became a cagey affair as both managers made defensive-minded adjustments. Canada brought on Stephen Eustáquio in stoppage time to secure the midfield, while Bosnia's Nikola Katić picked up a yellow card in the 90th minute as the visitors desperately held on to preserve the draw.

Ultimately, a 1–1 draw keeps both nations firmly in the hunt for the knockout stages. While Bosnia will regret letting their lead slip late in the second half, Canada can take pride in their resilience, though they will need to address their slow starts if they hope to make a deep run on home soil.
